Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I am the son of Cuban immigrants. I live for human connection through music and the arts, cooking and gastronomy, time in nature, and travel. These influences shape not only how I navigate the world, but also how I listen, relate, and care for patients.

My story

I am a board-certified Family Medicine physician shaped by international training in London’s National Health Service and on the front lines of public hospitals in New York and Dallas.

I completed full-spectrum family medicine training at UT Southwestern in Dallas County, caring for patients across the lifespan. As a certified medical interpreter, I worked closely with Spanish-speaking patients and families, often serving as both clinician and advocate within complex medical and social circumstances. That experience reinforced my belief that effective care depends as much on listening, understanding, and trust as it does on diagnosis and treatment.

Following residency, my clinical work focused primarily on adult and geriatric medicine in close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. After several years in private practice, I joined the VA in an academic role, caring for Veterans while teaching residents and medical students and championing the Whole Health model through primary care. During that time, I also served as a clinical lead addressing toxic exposure–related illness across generations of service members. This work deepened my appreciation for integrative, team-based care and the responsibility of shaping the next generation of physicians.

Today, my work is grounded in relationship-focused, whole-person care rooted in the founding principles of family medicine, further cemented through fellowship training at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Together, these influences form my approach to care: one that prioritizes thoughtful listening, meets patients where they are, and partners with them over time to support meaningful, sustainable change.
